The Importance of Communication
Posted on Thu, Jan 28, 2010
Previously, to communicate with your residents involved a ream of paper, a roll of tape, a golf cart, and quite a bit of time. Now that you are an Active Building you can send a message to all of your residents in a matter of seconds.
The ability to mass message your residents is a powerful tool. Are you utilizing it correctly? Are you utilizing it at all?
Immediately, we all think of the negative events we communicate to our residents - a leaking roof, an upcoming fire alarm test, a flood. But now that you are an Active Building these do not have to be the ONLY times you communicate with your residents.
How you communicate and what you communicate, becomes the "face" of your community. Beginning a message with "Dear Sir/Madam" gives quite a different feel than "Good morning friends!".
Use the subject line of your message to get your residents' attention. To keep your residents' attention, provide relevant, current content. A great example is demonstrated in our previous blog post.
Here are some additional subject lines that caught our attention:
-
Holiday Decorating Safely Tips
-
Christmas Tree Disposal Info
-
Moving Boxes available!
-
Hot Cookies in the Office
-
Reminder of Upcoming Events
- Potluck Dinner
What are you talking to your residents about? Tells us in the comments.
